Encourage an interest in sustainable activities...
When the adult has an expertise in a subject they are able to provide resources that may provide the starting point of a child’s curiosity. They can see the potential in a child’s play and know how to extend them. An adult can present a challenging question that encourages a child to reflect. In a very young child points of interest may be expressed in a non-verbal way by facial expressions, gestures, length of time an activity absorbs their attention and how many times the repeat it (Brunton & Thornton, 2010).
